Perth residents should make the most of Sunday’s sunshine ahead of a dreary start to the work week.
After an unusually warm winter weekend where the mercury soared to the mid 20s, wet weather is forecast to hit the metropolitan region on Monday as a cold front crosses over the State.
Bureau meteorologists have predicted a ‘very high’ chance of rain across the Perth region at the start of the week, with Monday’s showers expected to bring nearly 10mm of rainfall over the city.
The cold front will also result in strong coastal winds across WA on Monday as the Bureau have issued a strong wind warning for several towns across the state.
Locals residing in Perth, Geraldton, Lancelin, Bunbury, Albany, and Esperance have been warned to expect strong winds — with gusts anticipated to reach speeds between 48 and 61km/hr.
The wet weather is expected to ease up slightly on Tuesday, with experts predicting only a slight chance of drizzle in the evening.
However, the reprieve will be short-lived as a second weaker cold front is expected to hit Western Australia on Wednesday.
Showers will continue to pour on and off across Perth through Wednesday and Thursday, bringing up to 5mm of rain total across the two days.
Despite the soggy conditions, the temperatures throughout the week are forecast to reach the early to mid 20s.
Sunshine is set to reemerge on Friday, but don’t rush to make any outdoor plans for the upcoming weekend — a chance of showers still remains for Saturday.
