Wild footage captures aftermath of man’s alleged chaotic joy ride after crashing stolen car into pool

A man has been charged following an alleged chaotic joy ride on the Gold Coast involving multiple stolen cars – ending with him allegedly crashing one into a swimming pool. Queensland Police allege the man, 21, attended an Acero Court address in a white Suzuki Swift about 12.55am on Wednesday. The same vehicle had allegedly been stolen from a Worthington Rd address in Victoria Point just days before. Police allege the man entered the residence and stole several sets of keys, leaving in a stolen BMW. It is further alleged the man approached a taxi on Beaudesert Nerang Rd at Nerang about 1.45am, demanding fuel while indicating he had a weapon. “When the taxi driver attempted to leave, the BMW allegedly rammed the taxi, causing it to roll onto its side down an embankment,” Queensland Police said in a statement. The taxi driver, 63, and a 69-year-old passenger, were removed from the vehicle by emergency services and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital for assessment. The 21-year-old allegedly continued driving the BMW a short distance before crashing through a fence, stopping at a property on Willawong Rd in Nerang. Police allege around 2am, the man entered a second residence and demanded keys from the occupant, before trying to flee in a black Lexus IS250. The car was then driven into a swimming pool. Bodycam footage shows officers swarming the crash site, with broken bits of fence scattered across a lawn. The Lexus can be seen half-submerged in the pool. “(The man) then fled on foot before being arrested a short time later,” Queensland Police said. Police allegedly located dangerous drugs and drug utensils inside the Suzuki, along with a syringe in the man’s possession. The 21-year-old has since been charged with three counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence, and one count each of attempted armed robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle, fail to properly dispose of a needle and syringe, possess utensils and unlicensed driving. He faced Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
