Lunch

A slow scoring session for Australia but they lead by 82 with two wickets in hand after Lyon saw out the final over.

Connolly is going well with 20 from 51 but he might be given some more license to score after the break as they try and build a triple-figure lead.

The pitch is still very flat so Australia know they will have some work to do when they come out to bowl again.

AUS 8-411

Ends

Connolly has decided to take the end Coetzee is bowling from while Lyon will take the spin end unless the West Aussie can get there.

Nick and gone

Just as he was settling in Starc plays a loose drive and Coetzee has his first wicket.

It’s been a tough innings for the Portea quick but he gets just a touch of shape and Rickleton takes an easy catch.

AUS 9-402

Steady again

Connolly and Starc have settled into a nice partnership again here.

Australia lead by 73. And they are past 400.

AUS 7-402

Resist Starcy!

Harmer is getting plenty of flight on his deliveries at Starc as he tempts the Aussie quick to go big.

But Starcy is letting them go through.

This is an interesting time for Connolly in just his second Test.

Does he try and add some fast runs or does he try and plod along with the tail?

AUS 7-385

Fear of Rabada

Cummins really can’t face the Proteas spearhead.

He is jumping across the crease and gets trapped in front.

The umpire puts the finger up but the skipper sends it upstairs.

However, the impact is umpires call and he is out.

AUS 7-380

Harmer again!

The lefty goes!

Carey has fallen almost the same way as Inglis.

He went forward and Harmer found turn to grab the outside edge.

First slip takes the catch and Carey falls for 80 with Australia 50 runs ahead.

AUS 6-379

Connolly away

Cooper Connolly played and missed second ball but gets off the mark with a drive to deep point next bowl.

AUS 5-377

Undone!

Inglis is done!

Harmer finds some drift and spin and it just catches the outside edge of Inglis’ bat.

Good catch from Rickleton and he goes for 102 after defending.

Second time Inglis is out for 102 but he becomes the first Australian batsman to have multiple centuries in all three formats.

AUS 5-370

TEST TON NO.2

Inglis uses the reverse sweep to reach a Test century.

He has been very calm and collected this morning and moved to 97 with ones and twos before taking Harmer’s first ball of the day to the fence.

Huge statement from the keeper after the last-minute call-up.

AUS 4-367
