AFL: West Coast have lost five straight games - and haven’t beaten Brisbane since before the club’s premiership triumph.

Can the Eagles turn it around on a chilly night at Optus Stadium?

It looms as one of the toughest tasks in footy, with Andrew McQualter’s side desperate to snare another win before the season is out but coming up against a Lions side that’s starting to round into form.

Lachie Neale’s Brisbane are fresh off a 90-point demolition of Essendon and have banked five consecutive wins ahead of their arrival in Perth.

Stay across all the action below, with the opening ball-up set for 6.10pm local time.

MATCH REPORT

West Coast’s game got a fitting July audit by the best in the business, and while they couldn’t overcome a powerhouse Brisbane, the 24-point defeat proved they’re on the right path to success.

THREE-WORD ANALYSIS

West Coast hung tough for an impressive amount of time, but ultimately succumbed to two-time reigning premier Brisbane in a 24-point defeat.

See how we summed up each Eagle’s performance and have your say!

The Eagles did well to take it up to the Lions for most of the game but the reigning premiers have too much class.

But at the end of the day, the Eagles can blame themselves, their skill errors and stupid 50-metre penalties are the main cause of their defeat.

They will be counting the cost as well with Hutchinson going down with a hamstring in the opening minute and Reid playing through a painful ankle injury.

He was still one of their best.

The Eagles’ two mid-season draftees, Herbert and Francou, were their leading ball winners with both cacthing the eye.

Neale and Will Ashcroft were not paid enough attention and were devastating around the ball for Brisbane.

Great efforts

Young went step for step with Cameron in a sprint back to open goal and forced the Lion to take the ball out of play in a stellar effort.

West Coast were then able to clear and Bo Allen caused a breakaway that results in a fourth for Waterman.

But Young gets all the credit for a fantastic chase.

Game.

Raynor gets a goal after Lions free kick.

Baker came from the side as Raynor waited for a chest mark and knocked the ball away but got him high in the follow through.

The Eagle will face some MRO scrutiny and will likely cop a ban.

Crowd

41,560 have packed into Optus Stadium for what has turned out to be a nice night for footy apart from a small bit of rain in the opening term.

Will they see a grandstand finish?

Levi!

The Ashcroft brothers have been huge and this one hurts the home side badly.

They gave away another 50-metre penalty in their own goalsquare which leads to a Brisbane goal.

Ashcroft was left alone boundary-side of the contest and makes the goal look easy off one step.

The hard way!

West Coast get the first major but they messed it up a few times first.

Kelly missed the target going forward twice before Starcevich gave away a dozy 50-metre penalty to Draper who missed a long-range set shot.

The Eagles were bold from the kick in and eventually found Yeo on the 50-metre arc.

He launched long to Waterman out the back and he goals from the line.
