West Coast’s midfield stocks have taken another hit, with recruit Deven Robertson slapped with a one-game ban for a dangerous tackle on Port Adelaide star Zak Butters.

Robertson laid a heavy tackle on the Power stand-in skipper during the third term of their thrilling two-point win at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Butters was clearly sore as he came from the ground but returned soon after and didn’t undergo a HIA test.

The match review officer cited the tackle as rough conduct, with the act graded as careless with medium impact and high contact.

West Coast have until Tuesday morning to decide if they will challenge the ban.

Asked about the tackle post game, Eagles coach Andrew McQualter said:“He (Butters) played out the game, which is always a good sign.”

“I thought Dev did a terrific job. We started with a stoppage job on Butters — he’s so good, he’s an incredible player — and then we went to a full tag about 10 minutes into the second quarter,” McQualter said.

“Although Butters had an impact as he always will, I thought Dev was able to curb his influence a little bit.”

West Coast co-captain Liam Baker accepted a $1000 fine for engaging in a melee-wrestle, downgraded from $1500 with an early guilty plea.
