A local artist will have a chance to leave their mark on a historic building in the Great Southern. The Shire of Kojonup is calling for expressions of interest from local artists to design and complete a mural on the Kojonup Memorial Hall. The Shire wants the design to be centred around the themes of wartime returned soldiers or farming. It will be painted on the building’s south-facing wall. While the Shire is open to ideas, it also wants the design to reflect the history of the hall and the community. The Kojonup Memorial Hall commemorates those who died in service or were killed in action in World War I. The foyer features a stained glass ceiling and a marble scroll of honour bearing the names of servicemen and women. The site is expected to be ready for the artist to start work between March and June. Artists interested in the project have to submit some examples of work before February 11.
