KFC attempts record gathering of people named Duncan in celebration of new sauce

In a grand gesture of appreciation for “Duncans” everywhere, KFC has given those with the first, middle or last name Duncan first dibs on their brand new buckets of special sauce.
George St in Sydney became clogged with Duncans on Monday afternoon as the very first “Liquid Gold Sauce” buckets were handed out at the Town Hall outlet in Sydney’s CBD.
Local video editor Duncan Farr, 42, said there was “maybe a couple of ring-in Duncans” but that it was a generally well-vetted gathering of individuals who shared the same name.
In a grand gesture of appreciation for “Duncans” everywhere, KFC has given those with the first, middle or last name Duncan first dibs on a brand new sauce at a marketing event in Sydney.
“People were producing their ID and verifying their heritage. I don’t think there was too much stolen Duncan valour. Generally, us Duncans are a fairly honest mob so we weren’t too worried,” he said.
“I think we all enjoyed it, I always relish the opportunity to meet another Duncan and bond with them. I actually ran into a Duncan I know, because obviously we find each other. It was fun, we all had a laugh, I think (my friend) Duncan had a good time.”
Footage from the scene shows Duncans curving around the entrance to Town Hall KFC in an obvious show of enthusiasm for the chicken inside.
Mr Farr said he tried the sauce “extensively”.
“All the Duncans did, there was a lot of sauce, lots of liquid gold flowing,” he said.

“Look I don’t mind a bit of fried chicken. I’m partial to the odd Zinger Burger here and there.”
Mr Farr isn’t just any old Duncan – his heritage runs deep.
“I have a Slim Dusty song book that was signed by him the year I was born and it says “I’d love to have a beer with you one day,” Mr Farr said.
“The Town and Country hotel went up for sale for a little while there and I sincerely looked at how much it would cost to buy so people could genuinely come and have a drink with Duncan at the Town and Country Hotel,” he said.
“That didn’t work out, but I’ve got some chicken instead.”

KFC Australia chief marketing officer Vanessa Rowed said fans were “passionate about their Fried Gold Chicken”.
“We’ve heard their calls for more epic dunking experiences louder than ever. At KFC, innovation is at the heart of what we do, and we’re incredibly excited to deliver on that demand with Liquid Gold Sauce,” she said.
“This isn’t just our newest sauce, it’s the biggest sauce KFC Australia has ever released, reflecting our commitment to giving our customers the bold, flavour-packed experiences they crave”.
Liquid Gold Sauce will be available nationwide from Tuesday March 24.
